The View I Missed

The View I Missed

Victor Delafontaine

9 May - 13 June 2026

The point of departure in the exhibition "The View I Missed" is a subtle feeling of homesickness for places that are both concrete and unavailable. His work ventures in to the tention between memories and imagination, from recognisable landscapes to imaginary visions that have yet to take form.

His paintings come out of notes, photographs and memories of specific places, yet they develop themselves intuitively to a form of self-perception. Pictorially Delafontaine balances between figuration and abstraction. Constructive, verging on architectural, elements are weaved together with gestural and lyrical interventions. This back-and-forth creates a layered image, in which structure and emotion build each other up.

The paintings function as individual impressions, reductions and fragments, that together form a bigger and more personal narrative — a landscape of inner resonance.
